Shoppers in Scottsboro and surrounding areas are smiling. Two long-anticipated big box retailers are now open for business. Publix and T.J. Maxx in Scottsboro have been welcomed to the community by super fans, open wallets, and in one case, the Scottsboro Pep Band and Dance Line!

Grand openings and more

Both stores celebrated their official grand openings within the last few weeks.

T.J. Maxx was the first to open with festivities that included the pep band and dance line on Friday, October 23rd. They also let the first customer in line—who arrived at 3:30 a.m.—cut the ribbon.

Publix celebrated its grand opening on Wednesday, November 2nd.

Bringing the stores to Scottsboro

The arrival of Publix and T.J. Maxx in Scottsboro didn’t happen overnight.

According to reports, it took more than six years to get the proposed development, now known as the Shops of Scottsboro, underway. In fact, it’s been more than a year since city officials and developers broke ground on the site.

Now, the Shops of Scottsboro Shopping Center is already bustling thanks to the opening of the popular supermarket and superstore. Both big box retailers are not only bringing products and goods to the area, but hundreds of jobs too!

The Shops of Scottsboro Shopping Center

Publix and T.J. Maxx in Scottsboro are both located in the new Shops of Scottsboro Shopping Center. The 80,000-square-foot-plus shopping center is situated on the corner of Highway 72 and Highway 35, across from Home Depot.

More specifically, the shops are located at 24540 John T. Reid Parkway.

As things continue to progress, Publix and T.J. Maxx will be joined in the shops by Pet Depot, a bank and a car wash.
